Find out more about Telethon's impact on the WA community

Since 1968, Telethon has been powered by something remarkable, the collective will of the West Australian community to stand up for its most vulnerable children. For nearly six decades, that spirit has grown into a movement far greater than any broadcast, any single grant, or any one moment of generosity.

This year, as always, our Little Telethon Stars reminded us why every dollar and every effort matters. Children like Izzy, Jordan, Paige and Xavier face challenges that would test the strongest among us, yet they meet each day with a resilience and joy that is genuinely humbling. Between treatments and difficult moments, their laughter still fills the room. Their determination still shines. They are not defined by their circumstances, and thanks to you, they are not limited by them either.

To every community supporter, philanthropist, corporate donor and partner who makes Telethon possible: thank you. You are the heartbeat of this movement. The funding you entrust to us is translated, every single day of the year, into life-changing outcomes by the dedicated organisations and professionals who deliver our grants on the ground.

Telethon is committed to rigorous stewardship, ensuring every dollar is directed with care, transparency and a relentless focus on measurable, lasting impact. We are proud that Telethon-funded programs continue to set new benchmarks: statewide models that bring services together, world-first research programs, and practical, immediate support that makes a difficult day a little gentler for a child and their family.

This past year, your generosity has helped standardise neonatal transport across air, ground and tertiary services; strengthened early intervention, mental health and disability supports; and expanded innovative models that bring hospital-level care into homes, onto Country and into communities that have long deserved better access. These are not small achievements. They are the direct result of your belief in what this community can do together. On behalf of my fellow Trustees, thank you for your trust, your generosity, and for the difference you are making in the lives of children and families across Western Australia. What we achieved last year was something to be proud of, and it is only the beginning. There is more to do, and more we can do and I hope you will continue to be part of our mission in 2026 and beyond.

Thank you to our 2025 Little Telethon Stars

Izzy

Izzy is a bright, bubbly five-year-old who loves dancing, unicorns and is a big fan of Wednesday Addams. After finding a lump in her neck in November 2024, Izzy’s parents received the news all parents’ dread; Izzy was diagnosed with High-Risk Neuroblastoma.

Izzy responded well to treatment, completing chemotherapy, a stem cell transplant and radiation, and is now cancer free! Through it all, she has been supported by many Telethon beneficiaries, including Kids Cancer Support Group, and has shown remarkable resilience and bravery.

Jordan

Confident, social and endlessly curious, nine year old Jordan has faced huge challenges in his short life. After missing developmental milestones, genetic testing revealed DDCH syndrome (Deafness, Dystonia and Cerebral Hypomyelination) - a rare genetic condition affecting muscle development, sensorineural hearing loss and motor disabilities.

He has undergone multiple surgeries and uses a walker and wheelchair for mobility. After receiving a cochlear implant, he found his deep love for music, especially Queen and Billie Eilish. With support from Perth Children's Hospital, TSH and ongoing physical therapy, Jordan continues to thrive and inspire others.

Paige

Paige is a confident nine-year-old who loves animals and has a passion for sports like surfing, horse riding and dog sled racing. Diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at just three months old, Paige faces daily challenges but continues to push herself with incredible determination.

Before Paige’s diagnosis, her family didn’t know much about Telethon. Now, they’re grateful for the opportunities it creates for children like Paige, and excited to explore the programs and services it supports.

Xavier

Xavier was born at 32 weeks, suffering multiple brain bleeds and by 18 months he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. At first, there was uncertainty about whether he’d ever walk, but Xavier’s determination quickly began to shine.

Now nine, Xavier loves everything fast and loud, and true to his passions he’s proven he has a real need for speed. With support from Perth Children’s Hospital and White Zebra Foundation, Xavier has gone from walking with a frame to riding a custom bike and running with a frame runner. His determination and big personality mean nothing will slow him down.
